Designed to kill!

Technology has developed so fast in the last decade that everyone now seems slighly desensitised and less suprised by new inventions. From smart-phones to sat-navs and now 3D television, everyone uses and depends on technology for entertainment, work and even to keep someone alive.

Ironically a lot of todays technology was developed during and for the purpose of war i.e. ending lives.

The development of Stealth Technology was believed to have begun during world war 2 in Germany. Stealth vehicles use stealth technology by employing a combination of tools to interfere with radar and to avoid detection. (Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk)

The Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk’s first flight was in 1981 and the whole design was created to effectively reflect radar signals. For a while the project was ‘top secret’ and the parts for constructing the aircraft were originally described as spares on budgets for other aircraft to keep the F-117 hidden. The aircraft is slowed by its attributes of stealth but has the capability of firing laser guided missiles making this vehicle perfect for sneaking up on and destroying its targets.

On the other hand many innovative and life saving inventions have derived and taken form because of war such as: The Medicopter, Submarines, Light aircraft, extensive communication improvements and first use of ambulances.
